Note: This is a game about life and death in a world where the rules of what it means to die have been changed. Death is not a punishment.
The quest theme is set in a cutscene where Bilan (the player character) sees a riot forming around the house his family lives in, and when the rioters set fire to the house, he runs in to save his family

Reincarnation: A Ghost Story
This is the cutscene that leads to the final boss battle. Bilan (player character) is watching the triplet gangsters, Nilli, Frew, and Broan, from behind the bushes as they are circling Erlow (NPC) who is tied to a post, getting ready to kill Erlow and wipe his soul clean. There is a pregnant lady tied to a chaise lounge chair screaming, as she is in labor. Another woman is there by the pregnant lady to help her give birth. There is a crowd of people standing around behind all of them, watching on as if this is a ceremonious event. Nilli is near the pregnant woman, watching for the baby to come. Frew is near Erlow with his special dagger, waiting for Nilli to give the go-ahead to kill Erlow with a special dagger.
Nilli: Do it now!
[Frew slashes Erlow’s throat with his special dagger]
Bilan: Erlow! [My love!]*
*“My love!” is added if Bilan has kissed Erlow at any point in the game prior to this.
[Bilan falls out of the bushes and onto his knees in full view of the bullies]
Broan [skipping towards Bilan]: Oh ho, ho! Look who it is!
[Nilli walks up behind Frew holding a freshly born baby]
Frew: Ah, just in time.
[Bilan clinches his fist and slowly looks up at them]
Broan: Whatcha’ gonna do, squirt?
[Bilan slowly stands and draws out his special blade]
Nilli: Well, well, it seems [Demiurge 2] wants to watch us play.
[Nilli takes a step towards the crowd behind him and hands the baby to an older woman]
Bilan: You have gone too far.
Frew: But have we? It seems as if this was all destined for us to have.
[gestures with arms open wide in the air while looking all around at his surroundings]
Bilan: I will NOT let this continue.
[Broan bursts out laughing]
Broan: You? Hah! How many times have I beat you with this very stick?
[Broan slaps his walking staff in the palm of his other hand, taking a step towards Bilan]
Frew: And how many times have you pleaded for us to stop?
[Nilli swings his pocket watchin circles by its chain while taking a step towards Bilan]
Nilli: And we’ve even killed you [x]* times now.
*the amountof times that Bilan has been killed by them within gameplay up to this point
Broan: And all these people!
[gestures with wide open arms to the crowd around them]
They’ve seen you scared… hiding…cowering in fear.
[cackles]
Bilan: No more.
[Bilan raises his sword a bit, but there is a slight tinge of fear still as shown in his expression]
Frew [taunting tone]: But you think you’ve grown?
Nilli [demeaning tone]: Because you can run into burning buildings?
Broan [mocking tone]: Because you can scare away some little kitty cats that hiss at you?
Frew [sneering]: Or do you think you are special?
Nilli [belittling]: Because a mere [x]* people as weak as you want to live alone in the forest?
*x designates the amount of people that the player has brought back to their village
Broan [laughing, teasing]: Because Erlow liked you a little too much?
[Broan makes kissy noises and then cackles]
Bilan: Shut up! This is about more than Erlow. This is about more than me. This is about everyone your discrimination has ever hurt and stopping this injustice, you bigoted bastards!
[Bilan raises his sword andcharges towards them]
Nilli [scoffing]: This will be easy.
[Broan laughs again, Frew smirks, and Nilli flips his hair back with a menacing look]
[Boss battle begins]
